INTRO TO BACKCOUNTRY WORKSHOP (supported by Mindset)
Date: 8th - 15th March 2025
Location: Sainte Foy Tarentaise, France
Do you love snowboarding and feel it's time to finally explore the backcountry your friends rave about?
Does riding powder and venturing into the backcountry sound thrilling, but you wonder if it's only for seasoned pros?
Are your nerves holding you back from taking the plunge?
These are common sentiments I hear on the mountain, which inspired me to create our highly popular Intro to Backcountry Workshop. This week-long course is designed to help you push beyond your comfort zone, guided by our supportive and knowledgeable coaches.
You'll learn the skills and techniques essential to riding powder in the backcountry, including reading the mountainous terrain to make informed decisions, understanding essential equipment and safety, and experiencing the unparalleled joy of riding powder in the stunning French Alps. In the evenings, you'll benefit from sessions with sports psychologist Louise Jones, who will delve into thought processes and overcoming fear. These sessions provide vital support and skills to help you progress your riding. After a long day on the mountain, it’s essential to unwind and take care of your body. That’s why restorative yoga is a key element of our course. These yoga sessions will help you restore and re-energize, ensuring you make the most of riding all day, every day, for the entire week.
Our Intro to Backcountry workshop will be based in the beautiful resort of Saint Foy in the French Alps, famed for its easily accessible, untouched powder stashes. The area provides numerous options for riding off-piste terrain, with plenty of gentle slopes to help you get accustomed to backcountry riding.
This workshop offers a truly bespoke snowboarding experience by combining expert on-snow coaching, off-snow psychological insights, snowboard-specific yoga, and an awesome group of like-minded people.
